A Laminate Floor offers you the perfect combination of beautiful design and extreme unrivalled wear resistance. Laminated Flooring industry continuously develops new, creative decors, surface textures and formats to capture new trends or intensify the look and feel of real hardwood, tile and natural stone. Glue-less or Click system products is the latest invention in Laminated Flooring industry, which makes the installation much cleaner, faster and easier .
Not all laminates are created equal, but they are all constructed in more or less the same way.

Laminate Flooring basically consists of a highly compressed paper liner with a computer-generated photograph of a decorative pattern and finish such as wood, tile or stone. The photo layer is covered by a transparent polymer resin. Mid and high-end laminate flooring feature a more textured look that adds to its realism. The greatest feature about Laminate Flooring is that you can get the look of a luxurious, exotic wood floor with lots of intricate inlays for a fraction of the cost of the real thing. Many manufacturers have added the look of chestnut, maple, walnut, olive, cherry, hickory, along with more exotic species, to broaden their appeal to a wider range of consumers.

High density fiberboard (HDF) and another protective coating will be used at bottom balancing layer/moisture barrier to guard against rising moisture. The bottom balancing layer should be as thick as the top layer to prevent warp or cupping. A backing gives it stability and helps prevent problems like warping. Laminate flooring will not contract or expand with changes in temperature and humidity as natural hardwood does. The bottom balancing layer should be as thick as the top layer to prevent warp or cupping. The best core material is high-density fiberboard (HDF), which is the most stable.

Laminated Floors must be acclimated to the room temperature for the minimum of 48 hours, prior to installation. They are "floating floors" which are installed on top of a special padding called "Sound Block" and will not be fastened to the sub floor. Boards are simply cut to size and clicked or glues together. Since these floors need some space to float you have to be sure not to lay the boards too tightly against the walls. The edges can be finished with the proper molding.

Laminate floorings are the most worry free floors you can own and they are guaranteed for many years. Laminate is a maintenance free flooring, just sweep and mop it with vinegar and water or a no-rinse cleaner. You never have to wax, polish or refinish it.

The 10 most important rules on the proper Installation of Laminate Flooring

1. Consult Carpet Floor & More, Inc. when choosing laminate flooring and consider right from the start the application to which it will be applied to. The pictographs will help you make up your choice

2. Installation instructions describe in detail how a professional Laminate Installer would set to work

3. The right tools for the job are essential in achieving excellent results. Professional Wood Installer, of course, have all the necessary tools at their disposal

4. First check on whether the foundation is level enough and sufficiently dry (cf. fitting instructions). A vapour barrier is generally required over a concrete floor

5. Next, lay the type of underlay material best suited to the conditions in hand to improve footfall sound insulation

6. Prior to installation work, inspect each individual Laminate Plank closely for surface defect, as complaints cannot be accepted after installation

7. Instructions on how to fit the laminate planks: A) Original Laminate Flooring System: Apply glue to the tongues and/or grooves B) ) Glueless Laminate Flooring System: Use the proper tools for ideal tight click and/or snap

8. Fit the first two rows of planks and align them with the shape of the room. It is important to ensure that the joints fit tightly and that the rows are perfectly straight and correctly aligned. Only then should you proceed with further rows

9. Start the way you mean to go on! The rules that apply on how to treat your laminate floor during installation are equally relevant later:

*Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen,

*For tough spots, such as oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar, use acetone/nail polish remover,

*Sweep, dust, or vacuum the floor regularly with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar),

*Do not wash or wet mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent, or any other liquid cleaning material,

*Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or strong ammoniated or chlorinated type cleaners,

*Do not use any type of buffing or polishing machine,

*For spots such as candle wax or chewing gum, harden the spot with ice and then gently scrape with a plastic scraper, such as a credit card,

*Protect your new floor by using floor mats or scatter rugs in the hallway or entryway.
